Allahyarham Dato' Mokhtar Dahari was born on 13 November 1953 at Setapak, Selangor.Mokhtar was the first born to Aminah Binti Sharikan and Dahari Abeng. Mokhtar showed interest in playing football at an early age. He played for his school and later for his home state, Selangor FA.

Mokhtar married with Zarina Binti Ibrahim after knowing her for 10 years through his friend. They have three children. Nur Azera Mohd Mokhtar is his eldest daughter and Mohd Reza Mohd Mokhtar his eldest son. Nur Arina Mohd Mokhtar is his youngest daughter.

Supermokh' Title ϟ

He got SuperMokh title because of his playing skills, his strength and his ability to score many incredible goals in his career. The Merdeka Stadium was second home for “SuperMokh”. He has great team along with goalkeeper R Arumugam, defenders Santokh Singh and Soh Chin Aun, midfielders Reduan Abadullah and Shukor Salleh and Mokhtar’s partner up front, Isa Bakar, for Selangor FA and Malaysia national football team.

Dato Mokhtar Dahari's career ϟ

He was only nineteen years old when he first played for the Malaysia national football team. Mokhtar helped Selangor FA win the Malaysia Cup 10 times and scored 177 goals. In international games, he scored 125 goals in 167 appearances for the Malaysian team, including matches in the Asian Games, Pre Olympic Games and Pre World Cup.

1972 - Jakarta Anniversary Tournament [Represented Malaysia for the first time]

1975 - Asian Games in Teheran [Bronze medal]

1975 - Friendly match with Arsenal FC, [Malaysia won 2-0, scored both goals]

Mokhtar Dahari vs Arsenal ϟ

In 1975, he represented the Malaysia football against English giants Arsenal FC. Malaysia won the match 2-0, scoring two goals Mokhtar. After the match, Mokhtar was rumoured to have been offered a chance to play for the Gunners. He said this one of the best game that he ever played and will keep in his memories.

The reason of his death ϟ

Mokhtar began having throat problems and went to the hospital to find out what the problem that he faced. Doctors diagnosed him as having Motor Neurone Disease (MND). According to his wife, his condition was told only to Mokhtar and his wife. Mohktar went to London with his wife to cure his disease.

After 3 years battling the disease, Mokhtar died at Subang Jaya Medical Centre. The press, believing that Mokhtar died of Muscular Dystrophy. Mokhtar Dahari died at the age of 37 years on Tuesday 11 July 1991. The age of Mokhtar Dahari would be now 60 years old. People who have muscular dystrophy may have trouble breathing or swallowing. Their limbs may also draw inward and become fixed in that position.Some varieties of the disease can also affect the heart and other organs.
